Pitta Dosha physical and mental characteristics and balancing
Physical Characteristics –
As per Ayurveda Pitta characteristic people are usually average in height and weight. Some of them can be slim side. Their weight tends to stay the same, muscles are average. Pitta people are in general most balanced of all the doshas. They have better stamina and endurance than Vata type, not better than Kaphas.
Pitta have light, bright eyes-often green, gray, or blue. Their eyes are a medium size, with a penetrating, sharp quality. This sharpness can seen in features like nose, chin, or teeth. Pitta people skin is oily and sensitive, tend to get sun burn easily and often it is flushed or freckled. They have silky, reddish hair, and they typically lose their hair or go gray prematurely.
Unlike Vatas, Pitta are usually quite warm, and as a result, they have little tolerance for heat. This makes it difficult for them to live in hot climate. They sweat with strong odor. Pitta type have fast metabolism. Their appetite is strong. They need to eat frequently or else risk getting irritable and out of sorts. They are capable of consuming a lot of food and drinks without gaining weight. Their digestion is strong and reliable.
Aggravated Pitta can cause ulcer, heartburn, stomach acidity, insomnia, vision problems and inflammation of skin like acne, boils, or rashes.
Mental Characteristics –
Pitta have sharp and logical mindset with good power of concentration. Pitta are focused in thinking and charismatic speaker. They are confident and like to have difficult problems or projects to focus their attention and energy on. Pitta people are bright and good in whatever they choose to do. They like to be in control which make them excellent managers and leaders.
Pitta is not balance. Pitta people are dominant and prone to impatient, irritable, and angry. They can become overly opinionated, sarcastic, competitive, jealous and domineering. They can be perfectionist and overly meticulous. In worst they can be stubborn and fanatical.

Balancing Pitta –
Here are few basic guidelines recommended by Ayurveda practitioner that you can follow to help you balance Pitta. Avoid hot temperature when you can; keep cool, especially in summer. Stay away from hot and spicey food, as well as grease, oil and salt. Eat cool food in nature, cool beverages. Make sure to get adequate exercise that doesn’t involve competition or comparison. Try to have something positive to focus your energy.
