Hoarsening of voice in Ayurveda referred as “Swarbheda”, it is caused by vitiation of bodily humors – air fire and phlegm.
During seasonal changes Swarbheda is common issue in among everyone. Swarbheda generally result from inflammation of the vocal cord in larynx. This may be consequences of vitiation in body humor due to abnormal growth. Infection by micro-organism or an infection produced by chronic tuberculosis. Ayurveda involves natural remedies, home remedies, dietary modification and therapeutic remedies for treatment.
Characteristic Symptom
- Inflammation of the larynx caused by infection, abnormal growth or taking hot and cold substances alternatively.
- Change of voice and difficulty in vocalization.
- Dry irritating cough, pain in swallowing and a persistent urge to clear throat.
- A coated tongue, tickling or burning sensation in throat.
Hoarse voice Home Remedies
- Chew some black pepper and mishri because the juice ease the hoarseness.
- Gargle with the juice of wheat grass and also drink it.
- Prepare decoction by boiling the bark of acacia tree and use it for gargling.
- Take approx.. 1 tsp powder of vacha and yashtimadhu with honey twice daily to get relief.
- Gargling with phitkari mixed with water is quite helpful.
- Suck a piece of catechu as a lozenges.
- Gargle with water in which some catechu powder has been boiled.
- Roast a piece of dried fruit of baheda. Keep it in your mouth and slowly suck the juice.
